Spacecraft represent the most pressing unmet need across the entire aerospace industry. As more launch vehicles come online and the cost to orbit decreases, more companies launching payloads to space continue to emerge.
For the first time in history, this influx of payload companies combined with reduced launch costs has resulted in a massive increase in need for commercial spacecraft platforms, known as satellite buses. These buses hold the payloads of our customers and are flown on launch vehicles.
Apex manufactures these satellite buses at scale using a combination of software, vertical integration, and hardware that is designed for manufacturing. Our spacecraft enable the future of society: ranging from earth observation to communications and more.
We’d love for you to join us on our mission of providing humankind access to the galaxy beyond our planet.
Apex is looking for an experienced and motivated Production Supervisor to oversee daily manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will lead a production team to meet quality, efficiency, and safety standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Train, mentor, and manage a team of production employees, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing regular feedback and addressing performance issues promptly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Quality, Maintenance, Engineering) to resolve production issues and optimize processes.
- Maintain accurate records of production metrics, including output, downtime, and waste, and prepare daily/weekly reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
- Coordinate with inventory and logistics teams to ensure the availability of materials and timely delivery of finished goods.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment within the space or aerospace industry.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, safety standards, and quality systems (e.g., ISO, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma).
- Proven leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
