About the Role
mPower Technology is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Director to develop and evolve the company’s Quality Management System (QMS). The position can be supported either remotely, or out of either of mPower’s office locations in Carlsbad, CA or Albuquerque, NM. The role will require frequent travel to mPower production facilities, supplier locations, and customer engagements, as needed. This position will require extensive professional experience in quality management fundamentals, demonstrated ability to implement a department strategy, and outstanding command of continuous improvement processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mPower’s Quality Management System, evolving it from concept to maturity.
- Facilitate department metrics and corrective action reviews, prioritizing initiatives based on data driven conclusions.
- Partner with mPower’s assembly providers to improve production yield and reduce waste and material loss.
- Assume responsibility for technical responses to customers on quality issues; lead investigations and drive corrective actions.
- Liaise with Suppliers during visits, conduct process/system manufacturing audits.
- Work closely with mPower’s technical team to manage product scale up and manufacturing release requirements.
- Provide written technical responses to Customers on quality issues.
- Adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and policies.
Qualifications
- Highly skilled and experienced quality management professional, with proven experience in developing and evolving a Quality Management System.
- Experience in the solar power industry or the space industry is preferred.
- Extensive background in Quality analytics with proven results in using defect detection to eliminate errors and waste.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process/product quality control for manufacturing.
- Quality Control background, including problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Experience working directly with demanding customers, identifying innovation solutions under tight timelines.
- Impeccable attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Extremely data driven.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, particularly in translating technical concepts into actionable plans.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quality capacity within a complex semiconductor, aerospace, solar or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools used in the industry.
Preferred Skills
- Familiar with NASA STD-8739.4 requirements.
- Experienced in ISO9001 and AS9100 working environments.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in applicable field of study.
- Analytical and quantitative approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrated track record in the application of analytics to drive corrective actions.
